Robert Dunn joined Opportunity International Australia in November 2006 as Chief Financial Officer, before taking up the position of Chief Executive Officer and director in August 2008. Robert is driven by a desire to see the poor, their families and their communities transformed with dignity, empowerment and hope. Applying his business skills to the problem of poverty, he leads a committed team that is passionate about significant, sustainable and far-reaching change. For Robert, the success of microfinance is most powerfully expressed in the faces of the clients he has been privileged to meet in India, Indonesia and the Philippines – in particular, those of the women who have had their self-esteem restored and social positions radically changed as they were empowered to contribute to their families and societies. Robert is also the Chairman of Opportunity Australia’s Indian subsidiary, Dia Vikas Capital, which has invested and lent significant funds to Indian microfinance institutions since May 2008. Robert is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia and a director of Baptist Community Services, a major provider of aged care and community services in NSW and ACT.
