How to include Opportunity in your will

Using the correct wording ensures that your wishes are carried out in the best possible manner.   Use the following wording in your will to ensure that your gift to Opportunity is effective and able to have an impact. Simply select the most relevant option according to how you wish to include us. Again – thank you for your support.

Option A

This is if you wish to give your entire estate, after payment of all debts and estate administration expenses, to the work of Opportunity International Australia.

“I give the residue of my estate to Opportunity International Australia Limited ABN 83 003 805 043 absolutely for the purpose of providing microfinance and other support services and creating income opportunities for people living in poverty.

The receipt of the treasurer or secretary or proper officer of Opportunity International Australia Limited is an absolute discharge to my trustee and I further declare that my trustee shall not be bound to see to the application of any such bequest.“

Option B

This is to be used when you have first made specific bequests to others, and then wish to give the balance of your estate to Opportunity International Australia.

“Subject to the preceding provisions of my will, I give to Opportunity International Australia Limited ABN 83 003 805 043 absolutely the residue of my estate for the purpose of providing microfinance and other support services and creating income opportunities for people living in poverty.

The receipt of the treasurer or secretary or proper officer of Opportunity International Australia Limited is an absolute discharge to my trustee and I further declare that my trustee shall not be bound to see to the application of any such bequest.“

Option C

This is to give a specific sum to Opportunity International Australia.

“I give the sum of $………, free of all duties and charges, to Opportunity International Australia Limited ABN 83 003 805 043 absolutely for the purpose of providing microfinance and other support services and creating income opportunities for people living in poverty.

The receipt of the treasurer or secretary or proper officer of Opportunity International Australia Limited is an absolute discharge to my trustee and I further declare that my trustee shall not be bound to see to the application of any such bequest."

Option D

This is to enable you to give a specified percentage of your residuary estate to Opportunity International Australia. That is, after you have first given specific bequests to others.

“My trustee is to hold the residue of my estate on the following trusts:
(i) ……. percent for Opportunity International Australia Limited ABN 83 003 805 043 absolutely for the purpose of providing microfinance and other support services and creating income opportunities for people living in poverty; and
(ii) …………. percent for …………

The receipt of the treasurer or secretary or proper officer of Opportunity International Australia Limited is an absolute discharge to my trustee and I further declare that my trustee shall not be bound to see to the application of any such bequest.“
