Global Poverty Project

The Global Poverty Project, led by Australian social entrepreneur Hugh Evans, has been travelling the world with its groundbreaking 1.4 billion reasons presentation, engaging and educating audiences on the raw realities of extreme poverty and what can be done about it. This year, the Global Poverty Project has returned to Australia to partner with Opportunity International Australia as it shares the 1.4 billion reasons for the workplace presentation.

Today, 1.4 billion people live in extreme poverty (those living on less than US1.25 per day). In 2000, the United Nations put together eight Millennium Development Goals, the first of which is to decrease extreme poverty by half by the year 2015. As a sustainable business solution to poverty, microfinance is explored in the workplace presentation, encouraging corporations to commit to taking action in small and practical ways.

Specifically designed for businesses and corporations, the interactive and engaging presentation illustrates how by making small changes, everyone can be part of the solution to poverty - including businesses.
