Opportunity Ambassadors
“An Act of Justice”
Individuals have far more power now than ever before in history. One person can change an industry. One person can declare war. One person can reinvent science or politics or technology – so what’s to say you can’t make a difference?
Opportunity Ambassadors are a network of Australians who use their influence and expertise to empower people in developing countries to free themselves from poverty. Our work would not be possible without their commitment, passion and assistance.
Some of our Ambassadors have often travelled to the developing countries we work in – where the abject poverty they are committed to eradicate stares them straight in the face – challenging them to act and stop this tragedy. Face-to-face with the needs of others, our Ambassadors literally extend their arms to help, providing an opportunity for those hard-working entrepreneurs who only need that initial hand up to a better life. They believe that small loans can mean big changes.
Some host their own dinners and functions to inspire and educate family and friends; others take on sponsorship and fundraising activities with Opportunity as a beneficiary. All of them keep themselves informed and educated about our work with the poor, attending training sessions and special events, inviting their networks to join us and advocating on our behalf.
Passionate about being an advocate for people living in poverty, our Ambassadors believe that poverty is surmountable and that microfinance is an effective answer. They firmly believe that we should not just fight poverty, but END it!
The easiest thing you do is react. The second easiest thing is to respond. But the hardest thing you can do is initiate. Response is always better than reaction.
